The Lean Green Bean

Foodie Penpals

Hi Everyone!

Life has been crazy-busy, but I thought I’d take a moment to share with you the wonderful treats I received from my foodie penpal!

The Lean Green Bean

But first, are you interested in becoming a foodie penpal? Here’s some info from Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean, the brains behind this wonderful program.

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, check out Lindsay’s page for details on how to sign up!

This month, I was paired with the wonderful Char of  Char Eats Greens. Here’s what she sent me:

Take a moment to wipe the drool off of your keyboard.

Char sent me my most favorite-ist things!

First of all, Nature’s Path’s Love Crunch Granola in Dark Chocolate and Red Berries.

so.freakin’.amazing.

This is the most perfect flavour for me because I LOVE red berries and of course chocolate too. And they’re CHUNKS of both in this mixture. I’ve had to literally pry this bag out of Bartek’s hands because he had one taste and was hooked. And let me assure you, Bartek has very hoity-toity tastes ;)

Next, David’s Tea Chocolate Rocket. From the website:

The ultimate trip
Need a boost? Try this tea. First you’ll experience a pure, sweet hit of chocolate. Then you’ll find yourself awash in the freshness of raspberries. Followed by the richness of almonds and chicory. And then, bang, you’ll realize you’ve been infused with roasted Brazilian maté. How will you know? It’s what’s giving you all that crazy energy. Just fly with it.
Pretty much sums it up ;) This tea is so delicious and I love that it’s maté because it’s new-to-me! It honestly seems that Char was stalking my tea cupboard and figured out exactly what I needed!!!!
Char managed to send one final treasure, New Moon Kitchen’s Mackies. These look so delicious, but I haven’t broken into them yet. I know, I know I have SO much willpower! I’m waiting until Lent is up so I can enjoy these babies guilt-free!!
Ingredient:
Organic Brown Rice Flour, Unsweetened Coconut, Dutch Cocoa, Pure Sunflower Oil, Unrefined Cane Sugar, Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (organic evaporated cane juice, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, ground vanilla beans), Potato Starch, Tapioca Starch, Baking Soda, Sea Salt, Xanthan Gum.
The cookies are filled with so many wonderful ingredients, and they’re gluten free! I just know they’re gonna be soooo good!!! Plus, they’re Baker Babe Approved (so cute!)

So I really want to thank Char for all the thoughtful gifts. And of course, Lindsay for putting us together! This is my first time participating in the program, and I already can’t wait for next month (fortunately, I don’t have to wait long!)

Oh and if you’re interested, I sent a package to Christina at Food.Fitness.Fun

Well, I’m off! My house looks like a tornado hit it with all the packing everywhere!

Love always,

xoxox Miranda
