Hello from London, Ontario (also known as 3300 km from home)!
After months of planning and preparations, Bartek and I finally made the big move! I needed to move to London for school, since I’ll be doing my Master’s of Library Information Sciences (MLIS) at UWO! This was a huge decision since the move involved us stowing all of our possessions into storage, packing 2 suitcases each with clothes (and small treasures), and moving far away from any of our friends or family! But we made the choice together and equally.
Well, maybe not entirely equally. Maybe 55/45 (for me).
Okay, fine. Maybe it was 60/40. But either way, Bartek is 100% behind the move and just as excited as I am!
We had an incredibly early flight Tuesday morning (which left at 6:30, which means I had to get up at 3:30, which actually means I was awake from 2:30, which translates to 2 hrs of sleep!).
We arrived in London in the afternoon after a fairly ‘smooth’ trip (except the turbulence between Toronto and London)!
What a beautiful city! London is gorgeous and in full spring bloom (unlike Edmonton)! We rushed over to our apartment which we are very happy with. That is, tonight we are. On the first night we had some visitors.
But no worries! We got rid of the little buggers! Unfortunately, we had to use some pretty toxic pesticide from the exterminator, but we left for hours after we sprayed. Now insect-free (hopefully forever); our apartment is a recently-renovated two bedroom which has a very nice charm to it (much like the city of London itself)
Now I’m dealing with the task of setting up home. It’s tricky and very expensive! Who knew Alberta was less expensive than Ontario (even if you just consider tax- Alberta only has 5% GST while Ontario has an additional 13% HST!)
More details to follow!
xoxo Miranda
Have you ever moved across the country?
P.S. Check out my guest post on The Balance Project: Canadian Blogger Series. It’s my farewell to Alberta.

Welcome is right! If you need any directions/suggestions, I’ve been here for 5 years — and it’s grown on me!

I’ll check it out for sure!! PS are you thinking what I’m thinking? MEET UP!
No way! That’s where I go to school (well, at Brescia, but it’s part of UWO)!
If you need any restaurant suggestions let me know – I’ve pretty much been to them all haha.

Sweet! Thanks Chelsea! The only one I’ve been to so far is one called Curry’s… it was pretty good! But I need a good sushi place
I’ve never been there! I can’t really go to any Indian, Thai or Chinese restaurants because of my allergies. But I can definitely recommend you some good sushi places!
I’m a big fan of Ozen. Also, Gozen is amazing but it gives me weird tummy troubles (I think it might have something to do with my scallop allergy?). My other friends eat there and have no problems with it though! Ichiban is usually awesome too, but last time I went there I was disappointed. I don’t know if it was a fluke or what. I can’t wait to read about where you go!

WOW! Thanks so much for the tips girl! I can’t wait to go!
Welcome to the Forest City! I was born & raised outside of London and I work right downtown, so if you have any questions or need any help, I am happy to assist
You’ve arrived at a great time of year because London has a great line up of festivals and outdoor events through the Summer!

Thanks Andrea! I had no idea that London was such a happening blogging town! I feel so connected!
…haha — I didn’t either until I saw the posts above. I’m thinking we might have to organize a little blogger meet up in the near future!
