It’s the last day of the month! You know what that means….
April Foodie Penpals Reveal!!
Interested in becoming a foodie penpal? Here’s the deets:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only.
(You can read about the package I sent to Anna at Piper’s Run)
This month I was paired with the Maddie at Mad Health Chick. I received my package a few days before I left Edmonton so I saved them to eat on the plane. I meant to pack some other stuff but ran out of time! I try to avoid eating on airplanes/in airports because my stomach is sensitive normally but is EXTREMELY sensitive when I fly and I wanted to arrive feeling fab! And thanks to Maddie and all the wonderful treats she sent, that was exactly what happened (for me and Bartek)!
Now let’s get to the food porn…
YUMMERS! I’ve tried only a couple of these things before, so I was looking forward to new favorites!
Back row: Enjoy Life Cinnamon Raisin Crunch Granola, Food Should Taste Good Sweet Potato Chips. Front row: Vega One nutritional shake in Chocolate, Zico Coconut water in pomegranate & berry, and Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts!
We ate the chips when we first got to London and they were AMAZING! Bartek loved them especially! We ate them with hummus and the flavours were so good together
(BTW the bag was all depressurized from the plane… I thought that was funny!). As for the other items, I’ve tried other Vega nutritional shakes but never chocolate so I’m excited for that! Also, I didn’t even know they had other varieties of the flavoured Coconut water so I can’t wait to try that in a smoothie (maybe with the vega!) And I’ll let you know about the hemp hearts, but I have a feeling they’re gonna be so good!
Back row: Rebar in blueberry & Kind Fruit and Nut bar in macadamia and apricot. Middle row: Enjoy Life Chewy Bars in Cocoa Loco & Larabar in apple. Front row: Enjoy Life Chewy Bars in Sunbutter Crunch & Pur gum.
This were really our lifesavers on the plane! We ate all of these (except the gum- still have a few pieces) on the plane when our stomachs started feeling hungry! They were all really tasty but I think the Kind bar was really the best. I know Bartek would agree since he only let me have one bite! (not to worry, he bought me some more from the store)
And if she hadn’t already stolen my heart, Maddie sent me tea! How did she know I was an addict?!
L to R: White peach oolong, vanilla nut creme, cinnamon vanilla, chocolate hazelnut, and cascade mint.
Be still, my beating heart!
Vanilla Nut Creme is one of my all time favorite teas!!! I usually buy two boxes of it at once since it can sometimes be hard to find! And I’d just recently run out! Now I have it and some really delicious teas to hold me over. These flavours all sound drool worthy!
Looking over all these products, it really strikes me how considerate Maddie was when choosing what to send! As you probably noticed, she chose all gluten free products! She’s a complete doll and now that she saved me from hunger she’s my hero
Meeting people like Maddie is definitely one of the reasons why I’m so happy to be a part of the foodie penpals program! Thanks again Lindsay for all the hours you put in organizing this!
Now this post has made me hungry! Now where did I put those hemp hearts?
